Mayo Clinic Center for Humanities in Medicine
The Center engages interconnected communities of patients, families, staff, learners, and the public to promote the artful and compassionate delivery of healthcare. Music, visual art, dance, theatre, creative writing, lectures, and other educational programs all contribute to the healing environment and engage each of Mayo's three shields: Patient Care, Education, and Research.
Recreational therapy utilizes movement through dance as an intervention to increase physical, mental and emotional well-being of all patients.
Physical therapists reported all of patient's PT goals were met for the day.
Speech therapists saw improved patient problem solving, memory, word finding and overall engagement in conversation.
